glandore oval redevelopment feedback

I’m giving evidence to a Parliamentary Committee about progress on delivering my promise of a new club house at Glandore Oval.

The project is funded through my $5 million election commitment, with the funds being granted to Marion Council to consult with the community and build it.

Have you heard about the project or seen plans? Have you had your say? What do you like about it? What would you change?

Let me know so I can give an accurate update to the Parliament and get this project done properly, on time and within budget.

Elizabeth Ryan Reserve is now open!

The block next to Elizabeth Ryan Reserve used to be a run down Housing SA property. After the last tenant left, I pushed for it to be transformed - doubling the size of our park and providing more green space to our community.

The park now includes:

  • an open grassed area, gardens and native trees

  • nursery rhyme-themed play equipment

  • a little library

  • more seating - including a special commemorative bench donated by the Plympton Glenelg RSL.

I’d love to hear your feedback on what you think of the upgrades to the reserve and any suggestions you have to make it even better!

The centre has had a tough time amid changed financial circumstances and I’ve been working on a sustainable, long-term solution.

**EXCITING UPDATE**

Labor State Government funding of $1.4 million over four years has been secured for the ongoing operation of the AKWC at Plympton!

I was pleased to announce the funding with Environment Minister Susan Close on Friday 23 May 2025.

Thanks to everyone who contacted me and helped me make the case to government for funding. For further details sign up to the mailing list.

40 k/h speed limit on leader st and east tce

**SURVEY NOW CLOSED**

The council has written to me seeking my support, which is needed as part of the process, but unfortunately it has not contacted local residents to ask your views.

The City of Unley is proposing to reduce the speed limits on Leader Street at Forestville and East Terrace at Black Forest/Millswood/Clarence Park. These roads currently have 50k/h limits.

I think such decisions should be made in co-operation with the community. So I want to know - what do you think?

Complete the form below to express your views or ask a question. This survey closes on Friday 23 May 2025. You can find the Mayor’s letter with further explanation and a map HERE

PLYMPTON INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE UPGRADE

**SURVEY NOW CLOSED**

I fought hard to secure a $14 million upgrade for Plympton International College - because education is the best investment we can make in our future.

I’ll be giving evidence before a Parliamentary Committee to convince them to approve the project - the final step in the planning process.

The expansion includes two new purpose-built buildings providing:

o modern classrooms and learning areas, including outdoor learning spaces

o specialist classrooms

o library

o canteen

o landscaping

Check out the designs and tell me what you think. You’re also welcome to leave me any questions you might have.

FUTURE OF THE GOODWOOD OVAL SMALL PITCH

Diagram for illustrative purposes only. Not an official image.

The City of Unley wants to extend the tennis courts and build new cricket nets on the former hockey field at the Goodwood Oval Complex.

I secured a new home for the Forestville Hockey Club, which opened at Unley High last year. This means they are no longer using the pitch for training.

The new tennis and cricket structures would protrude approximately 45 metres into the existing green space, from the existing tennis club fenceline. Five wickets will be concrete and fully enclosed. 12 grass wickets will have retractable soft nets.

The current location of the cricket training nets poses safety risks, especially when it rains, and balls can hit the public. TennisSA would like to host national-grade tournaments, but its courts are not configured to appropriate standards.

As a local, I know this open green space is highly valued by neighbours, especially as a personal fitness and dog exercise space.

I have no position on the proposal at this stage. That’s why I’m asking for your views. You can read the project proposal HERE

THE FUTURE OF THE KESWICK BARRACKS SITE

The state government is discussing the future of the iconic Keswick Barracks site with the federal government. There are no development plans at this stage and the site remains in the hands of the Department of Defence.

I want to hear what you think about the potential future for this much-loved landmark. Your views will form part of my ongoing work to advocate the interests of our community.

FEEDBACK ON MORPHETTVILLE RACECOURSE DEVELOPMENT

Morphettville Racecourse has released its latest plans for a housing, hotel and entertainment redevelopment. I understand that Badcoe residents, particularly in Plympton Park have questions and concerns. Let me know what you think or ask your questions here.

At the community meeting I called to discuss this development, I committed to writing series of letters to decision-makers on behalf of our community. You can read the letters I wrote below.

CAMPAIGN UPDATE: WE WON! The South Road Design was updated in December 2022 and the right turn has been reinstated.

The Marshall Liberal government was planning to stop right turns from Anzac Highway onto South Road (from both the City and Bay directions) at the Gallipoli Overpass. This would have severely impacted the way so many of us get around our neighbourhood.
